THE JOY OF VOLUNTERING
 By, Nisette Caldern

At a time in my life when things didn't feel whole.

When something felt like it was missing.

The American Cancer Society filled that emptyness with the joy of voluntering.

My success of helping others and getting the message across has filled me up
with such gratitude.

That I'm thankful for all the wonderful, amazing people with whom I have met.

The places I have been and the experiences that will last in my heart for a
lifetime.

So I encourage all to take out just a little of their time to give back, in a
society
when helping others is slowly becoming obsolete.

When I spoke out against cancer and how we can prevent it, the tears that
ran
from my eyes when I had discovered that my best friend was never to pick up
another cigarette became a feeling unlike any other I could have ever
imagined.

So I once again thank The American Cancer Society for giving me the
opportunity
to help others.
