BOGOTA, March 30 (AFP) - A car-bomb exploded early Thursday in
the Colombian town of Cachipay, just 40 kilometers (25 miles) from
Bogota, killing four people and injuring 14 others, local officials
announced.
"All the victims are civilians," said Cundinamarca province
governor Roberto Hinestroza, who alleged that the bombing may have
been carried out by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia
(FARC), the country's main rebel group.
The bomb went off at 10:15 a.m. (1515 GMT) near the mayor's
office and police headquarters, which have been damaged, according
to police.
No one took responsibility for the blast. But General Jose
Serrano, the Colombian police chief, blamed the FARC and called it a
"terrorist" attack.
Another car bomb exploded last Sunday in the town of Girardot,
120 kilometers (74 miles) south of the Colombian capital.
The 36-year-old civil war with guerrillas has claimed more than
120,000 lives in Colombia, while more than two million people have
been forced to leave their homes.
