Colext/Macondo Cantina virtual de los COLombianos en el EXTerior -------------------------------------------------- Alguien está mirando estos programas? Algún comentario desde el punto de vista Locombiano? PANG=============== Please send an "attaboy" to NBC for the last 2 weeks episodes which did a bang up job of expo sign the drug war. You can fill out the email comment form at: http://nbci-nbctv.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/nbci_nbctv/people?2-44 [EMAIL PROTECTED] may work as well Sample reply and a couple of reactions below: --- For those of you who are not fans of "The West Wing", I encourage you to watch (or tape!) the show coming up this week. 221. (It's on opposite the Grammies so there's some competition for audience.) Here's the plot synopsis from the weekly TV section of the SJ Mercury News: "The West Wing" 9:00 p.m. NBC: Mary Kay Place appears as the surgeon general, who says marijuana should be legalized. The president's middle daughter supports her. BTW, last week's episode, the second of a two-parter that had the President dealing with the kidnapping of five DEA agents in Colombia, had the most articulate state of the futility of drug war I've seen on prime time TV. The writers are using their Emmy-award winning show's 'bully pulpit' to educate the nation on the many failures of current drug policy. We should all applaud them. --- "West Wing" was a home run for drug policy reform, wouldn't you say, posing an absolutely-plausible scenario wherein the U.S. is drawn into an unwinnable, Vietnam-like, conflict in Colombia? As we did with "Traffic," I think we can again rejoice that Hollywood is GETTING IT! The country can't win the drug war, and can't admit defeat. But the war can be stopped. Art is about to show life how to do it. Hopefully, life is listening. Dick === WAY TO GO NBC! The open honest approach to our failed "war on drugs" on "West Wing" the last 2 weeks was both enlightened and (mostly) accurate. I wasn't fan of the program but will be from now on. -------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe send an email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] with UNSUBSCRIBE COLEXT as the BODY of the message.
