Hi everyone; I have been biten by the fact that the syslog plugin won't allow debug logging if its not a debug collectd.
While I think its ok to have no debug loglevel in non-debug binaries, (others i.e. https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=687067 are having a different opinion) I think its not ok to go all silent and achieve the opposite of the configured value. Therefore I think collectd should log that the configuration for the loglevel isn't valid (-> configuration error), and fallback to 'info' My suggestion how to implement this: https://github.com/collectd/collectd/pull/561 Cheers, Willi
