Crash: How a Billion Little Collisions Define Everything

All things are infinitesimally small, given the proper perspective. That
being true, the Open Source and community software/content development
models can be metaphorically likened to being the product of a billion
little collisions, all adding up to something big; not unlike certain
models in astrophysics. If we are to abide by this model, we must strive
to make our collisions, or interactions, as meaningful as possible in
order to ensure success and continuity. In a community environment, the
individual has high value. In an age where technology seems very cold
and impersonal, what lessons can we extrapolate from science and
technology, that teach us how to maximize each individual's potential
and feed that into the community feedback loop?

Biography:

Jack Aboutboul is Red Hat's Community Engineer and has been a Linux and
Open Source user, developer, advocate and enthusiast for over a decade.
Jack has the unusual honor of being dubbed "godfather" of the Fedora
Ambassadors and currently spends his time working on Fedora related
community outreach projects. Jack has previously worked on Gentoo Linux
amongst other Open Source projects, including working with Creative
Commons to help create the groundbreaking LiveContent distribution, last
August. Jack is a true believer in the philosophies of Open Source
Software and Creative Commons and in 2007 founded the Jack Aboutboul
Foundation to help "build bridges between open technology, open content,
art and education in a directed effort to enrich the lives of people and
children worldwide."
