Fractional-N PLLs for Frequency Synthesis KEC 1003 ** Note the different time ** Fri, 04/01/2016 - 11:00pm
Ian Galton Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, UCSD Abstract: Fractional-N phase-locked loops (PLLs) are widely used as RF local oscillators in wireless communication systems. Their performance is critical in such applications, so they are a subject of intensive research. This tutorial talk will provide explanations of both analog and digital fractional-N PLLs as well as techniques that mitigate several practical implementation issues. Many of the concepts are presented in the context of fractional-N PLL integrated circuit case studies supported by measurement results.
