uuh, software synthesis is pretty good nowadays but nothing really beats
the real thing - trust me. i've been playing around with both, and the
original analogue is something completely different than some software
synth. sure, oldies are difficult to get and might cost quite a lot so
soft synths might be choice for many. it's been long since i last time
played with reaktor, but as i now have faster pc, it might give me some
kicks on new songs.. who knows.

and cheap. even any old sb16 for that... and setup could be:
some old 486 with n mb ram + hd
win 3.11
cubase 2.8
sb16 

and wow! you've got nice midicontrollable FM synthesis!
