what works for me is: who the f*ck needs a knife ?
most foods cut fine with just a fork. so I can
(for example) read the newspaper with my left hand.
but then I get dirty looks from all the Finns who were
raised to use fork + knife even when it's something
totally mushy like meatloaf or mashed potatos.
