unix folklore from the past ... "if binary name was more than 5 characters
long, it would be waste of time to type, so, it would be useless." so
there's your explanation why unix commands tend to be cryptic.

no, actually, it's usually started with "startx".... or, like there's this
current "imitate windows, boot straight to X" -thing, it might be gdm or
kdm that takes care of starting X automagically ;P (note: typo is
intentional)
