Now really, this shouldn't suprise anyone! I mean...

- mp3.com is a for-profit company
=> above anything else mp3.com needs to make money ...
- the services mp3.com provides to artists are _extremely_ expensive
(bandwidth, webhosting technology, and as the above article
  shows: finding competent employees :))
=> just a little money is not enough

... but this is GOOD! :) All the above "evil" facts have been public
knowledge ever since mp3.com started. Of course artists shouldn't trust
mp3.com, but now really, artists should never trust anyone else but
themselves (and for some musicians, even this is not recommended :)).

        - you won't become famous just by putting your tracks to mp3.com,
        - you will not get rich just .. --- " ---
        - you won't turn into a holy cow ... --- " ---
        - you won't be playing your guitar on MTV just by --- " ----
+ you get high-bandwidth web hosting for your mp3s,
and for free (think of free beer!)

... not perfect, but I'll take it. If the situation changes, I'll have to
re-evaluate, but for now, mp3.com is still a good service...
