Handy, yet curiously open to fraud?  I want a system like in 
Harry Harrison's novel, "stainless steel rat goes to war"..  
There, you had a little smartcard with your money encrypted in 
it, and no such thing as interest.
  
And no arbitrary max like 65536 units!
