this sounds fucked up. useful if the real DJ is in the bathroom, maybe. /.: http://slashdot.org/articles/01/11/15/169253.shtml Computer DJ Uses Biofeedback to Mix Posted by CmdrTaco on Thursday November 15, @11:09AM from the generative-tunes-coming-your-way dept. srand writes "So some scientists at HP developed this AI to mix new music tracks for dancers based on biofeedback from the clubbers. The clubbers are each given a heart monitor, which sends information to the DJ through a wireless link. The DJ itself mixes music using genetic algorithms to find the tracks the audience likes best. The tracks are the "genes", and feedback from the audience determines the fitness levels of the genes." I still think generative music has a lot of potential, although I'd love an intermediate step where some sort of biofeedback picked MP3s based on your mood. http://www.newscientist.com/news/news.jsp?id=ns99991563 A computerised DJ that uses feedback from the dancers to generate new music has been developed by artificial intelligence experts at Hewlett-Packard, meaning clubbers may soon only have themselves to blame if they do not like the music they are dancing to. damn -- sometimes a track is so crappy that you dance it up just as mockery -- but this system would interpret it as enthusiasm, and play it longer, and play it louder, and play more crap trax just like it, voi kauhe ! f
