THE END OF THE ROADIE? 
The days of rock roadies may be numbered. An inflatable loudspeaker 
has been developed that should be light enough for anyone to carry.
Conventional speakers have a "driver" and diaphragm that convert
electrical signals into vibrations in the air. They need to be in 
huge boxes to create deep, loud sounds and absorb unwanted vibra-
tions. Now two companies called SoundTube Entertainment in Utah 
and Ellula Sounds in Leicestershire have developed speakers that 
can be inflated on stage and deflated once the show is over. 
They'll blow you away...
