Based on what I have observed there are some standard causes for this:

1) sendmail processes the mailing lists in order; is there is a problematic
email address before your address in the list, your mail will not be
delivered until the offending address times out. This seems to be
   cumulative.
2) completely incorrect addresses do not cause problems; however, some
mail servers behave badly when the mail is being sent to an account that
has been closed but not removed.
3) the same things as 2) happens often when somebody's mail quota is full.
Especially with many webmail services - their server code is all to often
   completely brain-dead.
4) bad .forward, .vacation and .procmail files sometimes confuse the receiving
mail server causing the same behaviour as 1).

PS. One _can_not_ even imagine all the ways people can misconfigure their
mail servers...
PPS. And the above is by no means meant to say you shouldn't report about
the mail delivery problems. I will try to fix those as soon as possible -
if I can. Unfortunately, in many cases the cause is somewhere else. However,
I'm currently updating the system (be prepared for short non-service periods),
hpefully the new version will handle the exceptions better >fingers crossed<
