I checked out the US of A at Christmas. after 11.9. the USA had a choice: the red pill or the blue pill. the country admit that a lot of the world hates it and try to figure out why, or it could retreat into its warm, comfortable fantasy world. after all, Murrcnas are nice people, right ? and everything that the USA does promotes peace and democracy, right ? (insert irony indicator...) well, after reading the newspaper and watching the TV, it seems like everyone in charge of the media decided the fantasy world is just fine thank you very much. so it's called a "return to normalcy" and it means everything is running just about the way it did before. that's fairly reassuring. but the way it was running before was a media circus that keeps citizens in the dark, about the world and about what the USA is up to and about whether things the USA does are above criticism. on this one cable channel I saw a talk by Noam Chomsky. he said that Murccans are protected from two things: foreign opinion, and critical thinking. that was true before 11.9., and it still is. http://www.salon.com/comics/boll/2002/01/17/boll/index.html
