Surely sendmail reeled when thusly spake Evan Tuer: > > > I spent some time poking around the Museum of Soviet Calculators > > > > http://www.taswegian.com/MOSCOW/soviet.html > > It's an excellent site.. > > http://www.taswegian.com/MOSCOW/iskra111.html > > This is my favorite, read how the ram works, it's completely insane! Hey, not everybody got to use integrated circuits in those days ! ;-) > Also this model uses Nixie tubes, which is an excellent 60s style > display, I really like those so I built a clock with some salvaged > tubes: http://www.elovel.net/nixie.html :) I worked with a big programmable desktop scientific calculator that had Nixdorf tubes. YEAH they're cool ! Why don't any modern designs use them, just for a megahigh coolness factor ? Retro chic, don'tcha know ! I like the animated gif at http://www.netcomuk.co.uk/~wwl/nixclock.html and Nixie clock gallery at http://www.netcomuk.co.uk/~wwl/nixiegallery.html But honestly, Nixies don't look so great when they're free-standing. They need some kind of background, like matte black, that provides some contrast, to emphasize how cool they look, such as the metal details inside the tubes. I downloaded the Javascript Nixie clock but there's something wrong with it, and I don't know Javascript, have a look at http://dtm.oy.com/misc/JS-NixieClock/digimentholuhr.html f
