Recently some spammers have found the commie mailing list. Although the
amount of spam posted to Commie is microscopic, it's an annoyance anyway.

We _could_ restrict the post to only subscribed addresses, but that would
make the life harder for the subscribers.

That's because...

1) The address you gave when you subscribed, doesn't necessarily match the
actual address you're posting from. You might've given an address like
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]", but the real address you're posting from might sometimes
actually be "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" - although they both mean the same
mailbox. If the list was set to restrict post, all the postings from
"wrong" addresses would be rejected.

2) You may use relaying services to collect post from different mailboxes.
If so, you might be able to read Commie, but when replying, your address
would be wrong. Again, the post would be rejected.

So far only three spam letters have hit the list - from the beginning of
spamming, which was a month or two ago.

So, I suggest we bear the spam at least for now. Setting up the mail
restriction would make everyone's life (even more) miserable.
