wow, I've always been a fan of this series by Edgar Rice Burroughs.
I can't wait for the film.

But what Burroughs actually did, it seems to me, is so profound and influen-
tial that it is often overlooked or trivialized, and I think that is a shame. 
For without Edgar Rice Burroughs there might not have been any modern genre 
of science fiction; and surely the concerns he sketched out in such bold, 
vivid and, yes, admittedly often crude strokes would have had to have been 
sketched out by another, and that might have been easier said than done. 
All the great science-fiction writers who came after him have, deliberately 
or inadvertently, acknowledged their debt to Burroughs
