+ <p>The menus in XBaya will provide easy access to the required
functionalities for authoring the workflows & other vital features. </p>

+<p><em>New</em>: Includes the options to create new artifacts. Currently you
can create,</p>
+<ul>
+<li>new workflows (opens up a new workflow tab in XBaya) </li>
+<li>new descriptors (opens up a dialog box for defining a new descriptor which
will be saved to a JCR registry)</li>
+</ul>
+<p><em>Open</em>: If you have workflows saved in your file system then click
on this menu to open it by browsing the file system.</p>
+<p><em>Clear workflow</em>: Clears the content of the selected workflow tab.
Note that this action cannot be undone.</p>
+<p><em>Close</em>: Close the selected workflow tab & opens up a new
workflow tab</p>
+<p><em>Close all</em>: Close all the workflow tabs</p>
+<p><em>Save</em>: Saves the workflow in the current workflow tab to a file. If
the workflow was not saved before use will be asked to specify a name & a
location to save the workflow in the file system.</p>
+<p><em>Save as</em>: Saves the workflow in the current tab to a new location
specified by the user.</p>
+<p><em>Save all</em>: Saves all the workflows in all the workflow tabs in
XBaya.</p>

+ <h1 class="title">Overview</h1>
+ <p>Apache Airavata is a software toolkit currently used to build science
gateways but that has a much wider potential use. It provides features to
compose, manage, execute, and monitor small to large scale applications and
workflows on computational resources ranging from local clusters to national
grids and computing clouds. Gadgets interfaces to Airavata back end services
can be deployed in open social containers such as Apache Rave and modify them
to suit their needs. Airavata builds on general concepts of service oriented
computing, distributed messaging, and workflow composition and
orchestration.</p>
+<h3 id="airavata-components">Airavata Components</h3>
+<ul>
+<li>XBaya Workflow Suite - includes a GUI for workflow composition and
monitoring. The workflows can be interpreted at each step providing dynamic
interactive capabilities. The composed workflow can be exported to various
workflow languages like BPEL, SCUFL, Condor DAG, Jython and Java. The defacto
workflow enacting engine used is Apache ODE.</li>
+<li>GFac - an application wrapper service that can be used to wrap command
line-driven science applications and make them into robust, network- accessible
services. This component is build on Axis2 web service stack.</li>
+<li>XRegistry - a registry service for storing deployment information about
wrapped application services and constructed workflows.</li>
+<li>WS-Messenger - a publish-subscribe based message broker implemented on top
of Apache Axis2 web services stack. It implements the WS-Eventing and
WS-Notifications specifications and incorporates a message box component that
facilities communications with clients behind firewalls and overcomes network
glitches.</li>

+<p>Apache Airavata is an effort undergoing incubation at The Apache Software
Foundation (ASF).
+Incubation is required of all newly accepted projects until a further review
indicates that the infrastructure, communications, and decision making process
have stabilized in a manner consistent with other successful ASF projects.
While incubation status is not necessarily a reflection of the completeness or
stability of the code, it does indicate that the project has yet to be fully
endorsed by the ASF.</p>
