+Applying patches from ``main``
+==============================
+
+On occasion, a user may want to apply a patch from ``main`` which has not yet
made it into a release. Assuming you want to apply a specific PR to one of the
official airflow images, you can apply roughly as follows. It's also possible
to apply a specific commit.

Review Comment:
   One other thaught i had.

   By ASF rules In principle we should not tell end users in the user's docs
that they should use main code. This is not really what regular users should
ever be encouraged to do - because technically speaking code that has not been
released and voted on is not official user code.

   But it would be great if we can have a link that we can send the users who
are opening GitHub issues and looking at the GitHub repo.

   So why don't we make it part of GitHub repo doc only instead of 'user
docs'? That would basically remove all the potential problems i pointed out.
It's less 'official', would not need testing and would definitely cater to
'power users'  only.
