A .gitkeep file, also known as a "keep file" or "dummy file," is a
convention used in Git repositories to ensure that empty directories are
tracked by Git.
To work around this behavior and make sure that an empty directory is
tracked by Git, you can add a .gitkeep file to that directory. This file is
typically empty and serves as a placeholder, indicating that the directory
should be kept and not ignored by Git. It doesn't have any functional purpose
other than ensuring that the directory's existence is acknowledged by Git.
Our `empty` folder seems suspicious with the `.gitignore`, removing it would
be nice.
