I think a "most of the time right, always fast and simple" answer is a good
one here - and much better than a join explosion. A follow up to make it more
"right" is always welcome, but we can look at that complexity and maintenance
and performance then.
This is less bad than reusing dagruns, ultimately :) that'd be my vote for
the long term fix.
