Thanks for the pointers @potiuk. The issue here is that the scheduler pod logs doesn't output a meaningful error to identify the issue. The strange thing that I already mentioned is that the liveness command works and return 1 alive job if I execute the same command by logging into the shell of the scheduler pod.
