## Summary Fixes a race where the trigger resumes a deferred task to `scheduled` before the scheduler processes the executor `SUCCESS` from the worker defer exit. The scheduler then treated `scheduled` vs executor `success` as a state mismatch and failed the TI (#66374). ## Changes - In `process_executor_events`, treat executor `SUCCESS` while the TI is `SCHEDULED` with `next_method` set (same try) as a stale defer-exit event, consistent with the existing “requeued after defer” intent. - Add `test_process_executor_events_stale_success_when_scheduled_after_defer` (positive + negative without `next_method`). - Add newsfragment `66374.bugfix.rst`. ## Testing ```bash pytest airflow-core/tests/unit/jobs/test_scheduler_job.py::TestSchedulerJob::test_process_executor_events_stale_success_when_scheduled_after_defer -q ``` * closes: #66374 --- ##### Was generative AI tooling used to co-author this PR? - [x] Yes (please specify the tool below) Generated-by: Cursor following [the guidelines](https://github.com/apache/airflow/blob/main/contributing-docs/05_pull_requests.rst#gen-ai-assisted-contributions) --- - Read the [Pull Request Guidelines](https://github.com/apache/airflow/blob/main/contributing-docs/05_pull_requests.rst#pull-request-guidelines) for more information. Note: commit author/co-author name and email in commits become permanently public when merged. - For fundamental code changes, an Airflow Improvement Proposal ([AIP](https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/AIRFLOW/Airflow+Improvement+Proposals)) is needed. - When adding dependency, check compliance with the [ASF 3rd Party License Policy](https://www.apache.org/legal/resolved.html#category-x). - For significant user-facing changes create newsfragment: {pr_number}.significant.rst, in [airflow-core/newsfragments](https://github.com/apache/airflow/tree/main/airflow-core/newsfragments).
