@zoomingrocket Thanks for testing it. There are unit tests for this in the PR already: `test_forked_child_boots_with_the_service_instance_lock_held` in both `test_traces.py` and `metrics/test_otel_logger.py`. They fork a child while the OTel service-instance lock is held, which reproduces the hang from the issue. Without the fix both fail with "child never returned from os.fork()", and they run in CI with the rest of the shared observability tests. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
