## Why Follow-up of #73241. `breeze verify` applies the CI selective-checks rules to the changed files and lists the local commands CI would require. A contributor or an agent still has to run each command by hand, and that PR planned running them as the next step. Running the list by default also needs a guard: if the base is older than the `main` commits the branch already has, the list counts commits that are not yours. The current check only sees this after a merge, not after a rebase, so `breeze verify --base-ref main` on a rebased branch would run hours of unrelated tests. ## What - `breeze verify` now runs the listed commands one after another from the repository root, the manual prek hooks included. A failure does not stop the rest. It ends with the failed commands and exits 1 if any failed. - `--dry-run` (the usual breeze option) and `--json` only list the commands, as `breeze verify` did before. - The stale-base check now also covers a rebase onto the apache/airflow remote. When the base is stale, `breeze verify` lists but does not run. - AGENTS.md (from `contributing-docs/08_static_code_checks.rst`) and step 7 of the publish-changes skill now say `breeze verify` runs the checks. I re-ran the skill eval for the hash gate. <img width="2528" height="2102" alt="image" src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/848f98ad-03d3-4279-bf16-a7cea39c6014" /> #### Reject when branch base is too old <img width="2528" height="2932" alt="image" src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/57c1c881-5840-47e4-a3f4-e49f06951b06" /> This changes what `breeze verify` without flags does. It only listed since #73241 merged on 2026-10-04, and nothing in CI or the scripts calls it. related: #73241 --- ##### Was generative AI tooling used to co-author this PR? - [X] Yes — Claude Code (Opus 5.5) Generated-by: Claude Code (Opus 5.5) following [the guidelines](https://github.com/apache/airflow/blob/main/contributing-docs/05_pull_requests.rst#gen-ai-assisted-contributions) -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
