Manual backport of #74719 to `v3-4-test`. The automatic backport failed on a cherry-pick conflict, so this was cherry-picked by hand. **Conflict resolution:** the only conflict was `providers/common/ai/docs/stability.rst`, a provider doc that is published from `main` rather than this release branch. The branch version was kept.
