Root cause, fixed by #76139: - Three triggerer tests left their forked runner process running after the test. - #76016 freezes the GC before that fork and keeps it frozen, so in the pytest process the supervisor is never collected and the runner never sees EOF. - On Python 3.12.16, `ResourceTracker.__del__` waits for the multiprocessing resource tracker at interpreter exit, and the leaked runners keep its pipe open, so pytest hung after its summary. Two corrections to the description above: - **It wasn't the base image alone.** It took both the move to Python 3.12.16 and #76016. Both landed in the same window on each branch. - **The `v3-4-test` window did contain the trigger.** #76016 reached it as `58c570d519` (via #76029) at 15:57 UTC on 2026-10-30. Verified locally on the 3.12.16 CI image: - `executors/` + `test_triggerer_job.py` hang on `main`, and exit with #76016 reverted or with #76139. - The full `Core` DB-test run exits with #76139: `3834 passed`, `breeze exit: 0`. --- Drafted-by: Claude Code (Opus 5.5); reviewed by @potiuk before posting -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
