But I believe we are obliged to do it.

I still strongly believe that Helm chart is ASF release and we have to
follow this rule stated in the http://www.apache.org/legal/release-policy.htm

"Every ASF release must contain a source package, which must be sufficient
for a user to build and test the release provided they have access to the
appropriate platform and tools."

IMHO publicisng the source code of the image is something that we are
legally bound to if we want to follow ASF rules.

I understand that you might have a different opinion on that, but hopefully
we now discuss it on the whole ASF level (see the discussion thread I linked
above where I Voiced my opinion among the others - the thread was just started
couple of day ago and I hop we will reach some common conclusions there as.the
time for deprecating the 'stable/chart's is near and even the people who
managed the old helm repository are interested in ASF providing clear guidance
and rules about it). I think it's the right time to get to an agreement on
that. So maybe you can join the discussion as well - to voice your
interpretation of the policy. I hope we will reach some conclusions to make
those policies a bit more precise for the case of Docker and Helm and I will
advocate for it (and if the policy will be interpreted in the direction you
think is OK on ASF level, I will also support it). I think we should make sure
it is clarified there.

The policy was written at a time where no docker images or helm chart were
seen as a distribution method so it might require a bit of interpretation, but
I do believe that this is the very basic freedom that ASF is providing to the
user of their software is that they can build it only using sources released
ASF + appropriate platform and tools' .

This is a bit of interpretation of what the 'platform and tools' are in case
of Docker images, but I think that the very basic thing is that ASF should not
be on a mercy of non-ASF controlled stuff that might be removed at any time and
there is no obvious way to recreate it, if it disappears. And it's not about
the Astronomer - to be very clear, it's about general principle. I have
completely no doubts about Astronomer's intentions and sustainability.

   J.
