I think the issue we are trying to address here is to provide a means of having
IOs and generic Ptransforms all being able to work together without
point-to-point conversions. One way to do this is use Avro IndexRecords.
However there are others. The important thing is provide a means to get to a
common interoperable format that supports hierarchical data. Without this, all
transformations between IOs and PTransform components will have to be
point-to-point and this will not scale.
