Thanks for preparing a test project that makes it easy to reproduce the
issue. I've quickly tested it against my branch from #2114 and that indeed
seems to fix this issue as well. `bst show self_junction.bst:thing.bst` outputs
```
buildable
073eb1f2342847d4917e149f6baaae5d09d82e98823c95652aa61456743b82c6
thing_override.bst
```
