Matthew F. Dennis commented on CASSANDRA-975:
---------------------------------------------

sorry for the delay the tests take quite a while to run on my laptop and
CASSANDRA-1178 got in the way (these tests were run with the patch from
CASSANDRA-1178 applied).

Overall the new CLHM is just a bit slower in every test I ran (maybe I'm
running the wrong tests), reliably across multiple runs. In addition a cursory
glance at the memory usage in jconsole while the tests were running shows the
new CLHM using noticeably more memory; not a lot but it was noticeable, maybe
4-8 percent more.

I noticed no stability issues or crashes in any of the tests.

> The new version should be substantially better "on large caches where many
> entries were readon large caches where many entries were read," which is
> exactly what you see in our row and key caches.

> Hopefully we can get Digg to help test, since they could reliably break CLHM
> when it was buggy.
