Avro is:
* Missing many of the authorization calls that Thrift makes
* Doesn't clean up ThreadLocal state when a connection closes (accomplished in
Thrift via the hacked up {{thrift.CustomTThreadPoolServer}})
* Doesn't have a login method (probably due to the last issue)
