Joshua McKenzie commented on CASSANDRA-8399:
--------------------------------------------
When making the change for CASSANDRA-8019, I failed to check the return value
for SSTR.acquireReference in the SSTableScanner constructor which can race with
SSTR's being cleaned up and lead to the -1 ref on close(). Patch to fix this
is [*Available Here*|https://github.com/josh-mckenzie/cassandra/compare/8399].
Changes:
* Renamed/moved SSTableReader.EmptyCompactionScanner to
SSTableScanner.EmptySSTableScanner
* Renamed/refactored ICompactionScanner to ISSTableScanner, moved to io.sstable
package
* Made constructors in SSTableScanner private and added getScanner method which
attempts to acquire ref on sstable and returns EmptySSTableScanner on failure
* Moved #5249 optimization into getScanner call
unit tests come out clean, dtests come out clean. Patch looks a lot bigger
than it is due to rename/refactor, but the meat of it is really in
SSTableScanner.getScanner calls.
I'm open to debate on whether the abstraction should be an ICompactionScanner
rather than ISSTableScanner if there's some reasoning I don't know about with
that.
