That would imply Graham's patch was successful, then, since this is the
comparator codepath he left unmodified. We will need to roll out a full patch
and perform some analysis to see what performance impact this change has. It's
possible we can deliver two specialized methods instead, since I think we only
currently perform native-to-heap and heap-to-heap.
