I think the unit test issue is minor since this code is validated as part of
running everything on a regular basis.
I think we do need a quick test that shows that the database starts and runs
data correctly with compression enabled and that the config options for none,
intradc, all work.
Further validation would be done in a harness test that validates the kitchen
sink against the different compression configurations.
