FTR, I plan to leave review of the Partition hierarchy (in particular the
memtable stuff) until after that refactor, but am attempting to tackle the rest
of the code in the meantime.
As I do this, I will arrange pull requests (as I have done just now). I will
only post updates here if the pull request is in any way substantial, so that
they can be discussed on the permanent record. I think this will be more
efficient than my posting suggestions/criticisms, since you only have so much
time on your hands, and this permits a degree of parallelization that may help
us reach a better end state in the time available.
