I wouldn't worry since, as I say, it will be merged with the
"lifecycle.Transaction" behaviour that is exactly that: a transaction over
sstable lifecycles.
I've attached a small diff that I think is necessary for making certain the
runOnClose behaves correctly in this scenario. It's something I've been meaning
to do to ensure page cache dropping is also never done ahead of its intended
schedule, but here it's a matter of correctness. We could alternatively have a
"runOnGlobalClose" or somesuch, but I think this is a simple mechanism and lets
both work correctly.
