I've pushed [here|https://github.com/belliottsmith/cassandra/tree/10322-2.2] a
backport to 2.2, however it looks like 2.2 isn't as badly affected as 3.0. It
looks like prior to CASSANDRA-8630 most of our disk access used {{seek}} for
{{skipBytes}}
