I'd appreciate this very much as we "convert" a lot between CQL types and 
_AbstractType_.
IMO we have to do this anyway in the (more or less) near future - and this (as 
schema tables are changed for 3.0) is a good chance to do it.
As soon as AbstractType is no longer used in the schema tables, we are free to 
"streamline" the code and remove AbstractType completely (as soon as Thrift is 
gone).
