Actually, I've reverted this because I went too fast but there seems to be new
failures due to this, typically:

(I think I had also screwed the merge to 3.0, but the failure above was in the
dtest of the Paulo's branch (2.2 and 3.0) and I don't see a similar failure
prior to this patch)
