It persists until all sstables are rewritten - the bloom filter is recalculated
on startup but not persisted to disk until compaction runs. You can force the
bloom filter to be rewritten without waiting dircompaction or this bug to be
fixed by running "nodetool upgradesstables -a" to rewrite all of the sstables
(note that this can be IO intensive and impact your latencies)
