Jeff Jirsa commented on CASSANDRA-11747:
----------------------------------------

[~flightc] - given the lifecycle of 2.1 and 2.2, do you still believe this is
necessary, or can I close as wont-fix?

> Port CASSANDRA-10795 to C* 2.1, 2.2 to improve FailureDetector "unknown
> endpoint" message

>
> When FailureDetector is called to check an IP which is no longer part of the
> cluster, the error message is unhelpful:
> {noformat}
> FailureDetector.java:223 - unknown endpoint /10.1.2.3
> {noformat}
> We should print additional information to make it easier for users to
> determine where in the stack the "unknown IP" is coming from.
