edit: ill reenable the allow filtering, since its essentially indistinguishable
from normal tables currently from outside its best to maintain same

Its a one line change so easy to make so if you really want it I can make the
change. Personally I like not requiring it but I understand your point, it was
more of an attempt to make it as accessible as possible, especially given that
theres no performance or impact at all and the error message is a little off
putting.
