Yes, and why I had initially not taken the approach. Unfortunately it looked
like taking the long-way-around to the same end place :(
I'd suggest we revisit it later on. As stages become reliably SUCCESS (rather
than UNSTABLE) we'll have more options open to us. The incompatibilities and
support between Jenkins APIs may improve as well. Otherwise I am in favour of
keeping things as simple as they can be (i imagine very little joy on an
elaborate system on top of jenkins).
