Looking into this and talking to [~aholmber] it turns out Server can not reply 
back with a preferred version(s), instead client keeps trying but "downgrades" 
the version to the next in a list... for this reason there isn't something I 
can really do to avoid this other than avoid logging when the version is DSE. 

Given that adding a "handshake" is out of scope (and too late at this point of 
a release) the only solution I can think of is to avoid logging in these cases.
