Josh McKenzie commented on CASSANDRA-16956:
-------------------------------------------

I don't think we should go in removing Windows code (or any code just for the
sake of removing it) from 4.0; this is much like an improvement and should be
trunk only IMO.

Any concerns with that [~brandon.williams]? Our support or lack thereof for
Windows is more a stated documented thing and less a code thing; nobody was
maintaining windows support from roughly 3.6 or so up through 4.0 so it doesn't
work out of the box atm anyway.

> To continue the work CASSANDRA-16171 began, now that Windows support is no
> more there are some source files that can be removed.
> Just doing a naive grep on the source directory I see:
> {noformat}
> src/java/org/apache/cassandra/db/WindowsFailedSnapshotTracker.java
> src/java/org/apache/cassandra/utils/NativeLibraryWindows.java
> src/java/org/apache/cassandra/utils/WindowsTimer.java
> {noformat}
