[~mck] you're absolutely right. I was going to bring it up separately. There's
a bit of cleanup involved mostly for {{CHANGES.txt}} but I'm pretty sure I've
seen oddities in {{NEWS.txt}} over the last few months. I'll add it to my to-do
list. 👍
