I hugely dislike that policy.
I should also note that I currently manage very large number of servers with
CentOS 7 on them. The effort to upgrade the OS was started about 2 years ago,
but I would expect it takes further 2-3 years to fully complete. If Cassandra
stops supporting Python 3.6, I will be forced to run an old version until the
OS upgrade is completed. This is much bigger security risk, as Cassandra has to
talk to clients over the network, but an old Python version will only be used
to run trusted code locally, such as cqlsh and Ansible modules.
