This makes the most sense to me, but I'm not sure that can be completed in time
for release, so we may need a contingency plan.

I can see that point, but at the same time I strongly dislike the idea of
shipping a new major with ancient documentation. I think I'd rather not ship
any docs (at least you won't get steered in the wrong direction and can look
online) if we need more time.
